Snow Removal Questions, Answered

The things Akron property owners ask us most, before they sign anything.

What snowfall depth triggers a plow at my property?

Our standard trigger is 2 inches for residential driveways and 1 inch for commercial lots, because commercial properties carry more slip-and-fall exposure. Both are adjustable in your agreement. Some medical and senior-living clients run a zero-tolerance plan where we service on any measurable accumulation.

How fast do you get to a property after it snows?

Commercial contract lots are cleared overnight so you open on schedule. Residential contract driveways are cleared before 6:00 AM on route days. During long lake-effect events we run continuous loops rather than waiting for the storm to end, so accumulation never gets ahead of us.

What is the difference between seasonal, per-push, and per-inch pricing?

A seasonal contract is one flat price for the entire winter with unlimited pushes, so your budget is fixed no matter how bad it gets. Per-push bills a set rate every time we service you. Per-inch bills on tiered accumulation ranges. Most Akron customers choose seasonal because our snowfall is both heavy and unpredictable.

Do you clear the pile the city plow leaves at the end of my driveway?

Yes. Clearing the driveway apron is part of every residential route. If a city plow passes after we do and re-buries your apron, contract customers get a return trip at no additional charge.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We carry $2 million in general liability coverage plus commercial auto, and we will issue a certificate of insurance naming your property before service begins. Every commercial visit is documented with time-stamped photos in case a claim is ever filed.

When should I sign up for the season?

Before November 1 if you can. Route capacity in Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, and Green fills up by early fall, and pre-season signups lock in the lower rate. We do accept mid-season customers when route space allows.

Do you salt as well as plow?

Yes, and for commercial properties we strongly recommend it. Plowing removes the snow; salting handles the melt-and-refreeze cycle that produces black ice overnight. We run SaltDogg spreaders for bulk material and hand-apply ice-melt on walkways and entryways.

What areas do you cover?

Akron and the surrounding communities: all of Summit County, plus Kent, Ravenna, Streetsboro, and Aurora in Portage County, Wadsworth, Medina, and Brunswick in Medina County, and North Canton, Canton, Hartville, and Massillon in Stark County.
